2015: an NBOA Year in Review

In no particular order, here are a few other highlights from 2015 as they relate to the national community of business officers (and here's the 2014 list).

  • Publishing By the Numbers and Beyond. Every profession has a story to tell, and this definitive narrative of independent school business operations is yours. The result is worth the time, effort and care it took to condense our community's best wisdom into one publication (in both print and ebook!).
  • 2014–2015 Business Office Compensation and Staffing Survey Report. One of NBOA's newest research efforts is also among the most valuable in helping member schools inform their budget and staffing choices. Almost 1,000 schools have downloaded their copy; get yours today!
  • Online Courses. NBOA continues to leverage 21st century learning tools to deliver world-class professional development to independent schools. In 2015, in partnership with the Online School for Girls, Inc., two new courses joined this lineup: HR 101 for School Administrators, along with Long-Range Financial Planning, which helps schools use the NBOA long-range financial model to map out their financial futures.
  • NBOA Connect. Many hundreds of you exchanged work-related questions and solutions on topics from accrual accounting to zero-based budgeting, and NBOA monitored each one to ensure it received helpful responses.

Thank you for a great 2015. I look forward to more shared successes with you and your school in 2016. Until then, take time to rest, relax and re-charge with friends and family. You earned it!
