(from Inside Higher Ed) Inside Higher Ed released its 14th annual Survey of College and University Chief Business Officers, which this year included 224 chief business officers, mostly from public and private nonprofit institutions. Findings include:
- 57% of business officers noted a positive operating margin for FY23, down from 76% in the previous year’s survey. For FY4, 62% expected a positive operating margin.
- More than half of business officers — 56% —said their institutions will be better off financially a year from now. They anticipate increases in enrollment and net tuition revenue, even as many institutions have deeply discounted tuition to attract students.
