4 Tips for Maintaining Civility in the Workplace

(From SHRM) Many organizations underestimate the impact of divisive political discussions. Bernadette Jones, SHRM-SCP, emphasizes being proactive to prevent incivility. She shared four strategies at SHRM24:

  2. Guide the Discussion: Gain leadership support with data, emphasizing the business case for civility.
  3. Set Boundaries: Establish and communicate clear policies, including acceptable and respectful conduct.
  4. Take Action: HR should feel empowered to implement changes, continually re-evaluating policies to maintain a respectful workplace.
