Much attention involving the potential repeal of the Affordable Care Act has focused on the 20 million Americans who gained health care coverage under the law. But ACA's repeal, which the new president set into effect by way of
executive order on the first day of his administration, would also affect employer-sponsored health plans as well. Among the protections that could change or disappear: coverage for preventive services, guaranteed coverage for patients with pre-existing conditions, eligibility waiting periods capped at 90 days, and bans on annual or lifetime limits on "essential health benefits."
