(From The Atlantic) The decision to freeze tuition at $9,992 at Purdue University has helped to increase campus enrollment at the Illinois institution, bringing in an estimated $100 million, according to administration. The university incorporated a host of economizing measures as well, including digitizing payroll and centralizing food services, as well as innovations such as striking a deal with Amazon to provide textbooks, saving students more than $2 million in the first few years. These measures together have enabled Purdue to increase full-time faculty levels and faculty pay, as well as applications for admissions, now up 37%.
