(From EdSurge) In an effort to expand into the online educational market, Amazon recently announced a program called Amazon Ignite, which will let a select group of educators sell their online teaching resources and lesson plans. This effort comes three years after Amazon's collection of free online resources, called Inspire, was shut down following teacher complaints that the tech company was not doing enough to keep people from posting copyrighted materials that they didn't create. To avoid similar copyright issues, Amazon is making the service “invite only,” meaning that only hand-selected educators will be able to participate in response to copyright concerns. They also hope to improve sales by marketing Ignite materials at a minimum of $3.00.
