Blocked Overtime Rule under Appeal

Dec 12, 2016, 4:37 PM

The Department of Labor has appealed the preliminary blocking of the federal overtime rule that was supposed to take effect December 1, but the appeal may not be decided before the presidential inauguration January 20. The Trump administration could either withdraw the appeal or let it languish, but in either case is expected to soften its impact on businesses. An additional 21 states and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce have consolidated their lawsuits against the rule and could appeal a summary judgment.
