(from the Daily Mail) British independent schools are experiencing "huge demand" abroad. Eleven international British private schools have opened their doors in the last academic year, and a further 18 will open in the next two years, mainly in China, but also in Singapore, Egypt, Oman and India. International campuses are bringing in funds that can be spent on bursaries for low-income families in Britain and also used to hold down tuition increases there, said a spokesperson for a headmasters and headmistresses association. The reputation of British independent education is driving the growth, said one headmaster.
