Case Study: Unified HR

May 24, 2019, 12:41 PM

(From Higher Ed HR Magazine) University of California, Irvine, recently unified its HR department to enable the organization to interpret and apply policies and practices consistently, reduce redundancies, leverage best practices, and respond quickly and nimbly to change. Now, instead of three separate silos, there are three units that work together as a team. They’re focused on:

  • Organizational design and talent alignment
  • Organizational effectiveness
  • Wellness
  • Coaching/performance/learning
  • Employee relations

Since the change, UCI HR has become a highly regarded university partner; clients across the enterprise consult the department, whose leader now holds a seat on the executive cabinets for both the campus and UCI Health.
