Catholic Colleges Merge to Enhance Cost Savings

(From Higher Ed Dive) When St. Ambrose University and Mount Mercy University in Cedar Rapids announced their merger last week, they highlighted the anticipated cost savings and operational efficiencies they hope to achieve from the move. Plans include creating streamlined pathways for undergraduates into graduate programs and potentially expanding graduate programs to both campuses. Both institutions have faced declining enrollments over the past decade, with St. Ambrose down 25.2% and Mount Mercy down 15.7%.
