CDC Issues Updated Student, Staff Isolation Guidance

Dec 6, 2021, 8:46 PM

(From K-12 Dive) Guidance issued last week by the CDC recommends students and staff who have COVID-19 or show signs of symptoms isolate for a full 10 days. The recommendation applies to both vaccinated and unvaccinated people. It also suggests people in isolation should not come to school, but rather participate in online or virtual activities while in isolation, depending on if they are well enough to do so. The updated guidance comes as states and districts around the country have been pioneering alternative approaches to quarantine, including “test to stay” policies – where exposed students remain in school, wear masks, and test repeatedly in the days following exposure to identify and contain infection.
