CDC Relaxes Guidelines for Summer Camps

Jun 1, 2021, 4:27 PM

(From NPR) Last Friday, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention revised earlier guidelines regarding mask use and vaccinations at summer camps. The agency now says that when everyone at camp is vaccinated it is "safe to return to full capacity, without masking and without physical distancing," except except where required by local law. A CDC official said the new guidance was prompted by improvements to vaccine policies and pandemic trends since the last iteration of camp guidance in April. Not only have coronavirus case numbers plummeted, but older teens and camp staff also are eligible for vaccination — and so, too, since earlier this month, are campers ages 12 to 15.
