(From The 74 Million) A new report from the Progressive Policy Institute reveals significant academic gains in districts with expanded school choice programs. Over the last decade, low-income students in districts with a high percentage of charter school enrollment closed statewide proficiency gaps by 25% to 40%. In Camden, low-income students improved their standardized test proficiency by 21 points between 2010-11 and 2022-23. While the report shows a strong correlation between school choice and rising test scores, it notes that causation cannot be definitively proven.
