Colleges and universities seeking to boost enrollment and revenue are launching affordable online degree programs focused on STEM careers. In Georgia, where cost is the top impediment to students earning a college degree, Georgia Tech recently announced plans for a new online master's degree program in analytics that will cost less than $10,000. Officials say the school's initial online computer science degree program increased enrollment by more than 4,000 students in two years. Penn State and Vanderbilt are among other schools launching online STEM-related programs. Institutions are also partnering with companies to ensure the new degrees will be useful in growing fields.
