(from Reuters) The U.S. Department of Labor yesterday called for public comments on the Obama Administration's proposed changes to the overtime threshold, considered the first steps in revoking or revising the rule. The rule would have expanded the scope of overtime-eligible employees by doubling the salary level threshold for exempt employees to more than $47,476 a year, potentially affecting 4.2 million workers.
Since the proposed regulations were issued more than a year ago, they have faced fierce opposition from business organizations, even as independent schools and other employers scrambled to adjust many employees' compensation in anticipation of the rule.
