Pressure could mount in 2017 for state lawmakers to tighten regulatory gaps that some people believe contribute to sexual abuse of students in independent schools. The Boston Globe's 2016 "Spotlight" series identified dozens of educators who went on to other jobs involving students after being accused of sexual misconduct at previous schools. State licensing of private school teachers, along with laws requiring schools to report allegations, would create public records, advocates say.
