Cybersecurity Meets the Business Office

(From AS/COA) The role of the finance executive is evolving simultaneously with the technology available in the market. Gabriel Baraya, CFO at the firm Organización Solla, underscores that the CFO has become the chief risk manager at most if not all organizations and as such needs to understand risks that impact overall strategy. He recommends the following cyberscurity protocols in the changing marketplace:

  • Have a hierarchy system in place regarding who can give access to a third party, for example to consultants, and what data can be shared. This also also includes who can authorize, when they can authorize and which specific tools they give access to.
  • Have a mandatory protocol in which all workers must change their passwords regularly and increase the security levels of their passwords. You may need to designate specific roles so that people only have access to the information they need for their role.
