(From Education Technology) A new study found that 61% of U.K. independent schools have been targeted for cyberattacks in the last five years. Despite the frequency, only 38% of independent schools monitor their cybersecurity policy at least once a month. The report also revealed that cyber risks faced by independent schools are not limited to criminal activity and include accidental data breaches through loss of devices or human error. Independent schools can protect themselves against cyberattacks by keeping strict adherence to basic cybersafe measures, as well as implementing good staff training on cybersecurity best practices.
