(from Edutopia) In school districts across the country, snow days are becoming relics of the past. Replaced with "remote school days," students complete coursework at home using internet-connected devices. One argument is financial: if a school has spent money acquiring devices for every student, students should maximize the utility of those devices and expand their opportunities for learning. An excessive number of snow days has also been linked to lower test scores in very snowy years. Maine, Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota, New Hampshire, Ohio and Pennsylvania have adopted some kind of remote school day policy.
