(From K-12 Dive) The U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Educational Technology recently released a 74-page toolkit to guide safe AI adoption in schools. The guidance, which focuses on mitigating risks, integrating AI strategically, and enhancing classroom learning, comes at a time when many schools still lack an AI policy. An analysis by the Center on Reinventing Public Education found that one-third of 40 early AI-adopting districts lack public guidelines, and a Rand Corp. report from April showed that only 5% of 231 districts have specific AI policies for student use of generative AI tools.
