Evaluating Federal Financial Assistance

Apr 7, 2025, 9:48 AM

(from Venable LLP) As different programs and funding sources present themselves, independent schools are considering whether and the extent to which receipt or participation would render the school a recipient of federal financial assistance. The obligation to comply with certain federal laws and regulations is triggered by a school's receipt of federal financial assistance, as is compliance with certain executive orders. Venable has guidance on the following laws:

  • Titles I, II, and IV of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act
  • National School Lunch Program
  • Individuals with Disabilities Education Act
  • E-Rate Program
  • Emergency Assistance to Non-Public Schools (EANS)
  • Nonprofit Security Grant Program
  • Veterans Education Program
