(from Kaiser Health News) A Florida law passed in a rush following the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting in Parkland, Florida, last year included a provision that students must now report treatment for any mental health services on their school registration forms. The intent is that schools will provide counseling as necessary, but parents are leery the information could be held against their children and follow them beyond school. Some districts will share the information only with psychologists and administrators. Others say they will provide access to teachers and front-office staff as well. The state left implementation of the provision up to local districts.
