(From The New York Times) Last week, leaders at the Centner Academy, a Miami private school, sent teachers an email with a stark warning: Teachers who get the vaccine over the summer will not be allowed to return, the letter said, until clinical trials on the vaccine are completed, and then only “if a position is still available at that time." School leaders have cited debunked misinformation to justify the policy, despite medical consensus that the coronavirus vaccines effectively prevent serious infections and carry few risks.
The school’s decision has alarmed public health experts and demonstrated the pervasive reach of misinformation about the vaccines. A dozen state attorneys general last month demanded that Facebook and Twitter do more to enforce policies against vaccine misinformation.
