(from The News Buzz) Wonderschool, a network of in-home day care and preschools with about 140 programs in California, plans to open 150 more programs in New York City on top of 16 already there. The private startup has raised more than $4 million in a short time, propelled by insufficient child care programs in some of the most expensive parts of the country. The network also seeks to reduce high turnover among in-home caregivers by providing them with back-office administrative support such as help with licensing, liability insurance and a tech platform that supports online payments and much more. The company takes a percentage of monthly "tuition" fees.
