(from the Baltimore Sun) Many who attended independent schools in the 1980s say that the drinking and party culture described in the Ford-Kavanaugh hearings was familiar. However, it's likely that much has changed then, due to the impact of social media and smartphones, which serve to police bad behavior. Studies also show less teenage drinking today: in 1982, 74.1 percent of male high school seniors and 65 of female seniors reported drinking in the past 30 days, according to national surveys by the Institute for Social Research. And alcohol was generally easier to purchase decades ago, with the drinking age at 18 until the mid 80s.
