Houston Schools Doubling as Emergency Shelters

(from the 74) Many Houston-area schools have opened their doors as emergency shelters for families displaced by Hurricane Harvey as the devastating storm continues to batter the city and other parts of the Gulf coast. Some are using social media to share their status and request specific donations; another, J. Frank Dobie High School, created a database of evacuees to help family members track one another down. "Cougar Nation is amazing," posted the Crosby Independent School District on Facebook. "We provided food, clothing and shelter for over 400 evacuees today without any external assistance."
