Hurricane Helene Disrupts Southeast Colleges

(From Inside Higher Ed) Schools across the Southeast are announcing return dates as they assess damage from Hurricane Helene, a Category 4 storm that caused widespread flooding and power outages. The University of North Carolina at Asheville canceled classes until Oct. 9, as significant storm damage has made parts of campus inaccessible. Western Carolina University provided landlines for students to contact their families and urged them to remain on campus due to unsafe road conditions. In Florida, some students are beginning to return to campus after being temporarily relocated. Recovery efforts across the region are ongoing.
