(from George Couros) If school administrators expect teachers to be innovative, they would do well to practice innovative administration, advises education consultant George Couros. "I have seen administrators encourage teachers to be forward-thinking and create a trust-focused classroom while practicing extreme levels of micro-management," he wrote. "What teachers experience is what they often produce." He encourages administrators to be flexible and offer leadership opportunities to staff and faculty across the board, not just in administration. To be effective, opportunities must be more than delegated work, but offer a chance for creative thinking, Couros said.
