(from ICEF Monitor) What aspects of the learning and living experience matter most to international students? Responses to the 2018 International Student Barometer survey at universities in Australia – one of the top host countries for international students – indicate that most commonly students want to gain skills and contacts that will help them find jobs upon graduation. Responses varied by country, however. Undergraduates from China, Australia’s leading sending market, said “making good contacts for the future,” “immigration and visa advice from the institution,” and “campus eating places” were their top concerns. Student from India said “the subject area expertise of lecturers/supervisors” was their top factor and for Pakistani students, it was the “opportunity to work while studying.”
