Additionally, public address systems in schools can be connected to the network and integrated with VoIP phones, so if there is an emergency or active shooter, administrators can communicate with occupants and give crucial instructions, even if they are not on-site. Mobile apps and additional integrated technologies help bridge the gaps in a unified system and should be a part of any school’s emergency operations plan. Also evolving are mobile apps designed to communicate with emergency responders and law enforcement. Several applications are designed specifically for the education market and may be considered by schools in the creation of a comprehensive emergency plan.
