Lockdown Drills Prove Effective?

(from the 74 Million) During the school shooting earlier this week in Oxford, Michigan, a viral video showed students confused when a voice asked barricaded students to open the door and let him into the room. Students thought it might have been a ruse and fled instead in confusion. Security officers should never ask barricaded students to open a door, experts say, but rather have a universal key to let themselves in. Some experts say students at the Michigan school were well trained, as were the campus officers involved. Others say there was room for improvement, as those fleeing could have put themselves in greater danger. The district uses the ALICE training method, which has come under criticism in recent years for traumatizing students.
