(from the Washington Post) Linda McMahon, President Donald Trump’s pick to lead the Education Department, spent her confirmation hearing Thursday defending Trump’s divisive agenda, including his plan to punish schools for teaching certain lessons about race and gender — even though she said she generally supports local control. Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska) said that controlling the curriculum from Washington was contrary to federal law and the effort to cut funding for schools that teach about gender or diversity, equity and inclusion may be at direct odds with that statute.
