So much for job-hopping. College-educated millennial employees — those born between 1981 and 1998 — are more likely to stick with their employers than members of Generation X were at the same age. According to data from the U.S. Department of Labor, nearly two-thirds of millennials (63.4 percent) said they had worked for their current employer for at least 13 months, a somewhat higher percentage than GenXers in 2000. Twenty-two percent of millennial workers reported being with their employer for at least five years.
Rising generational loyalty is consistent with a decline in job-switching overall among working-age adults. It may also reflect the challenges many workers find in identifying better jobs.
