You can't beat Montreal for a great student destination, according to the latest ranking of study destinations from QS Best Student Cities 2017. The Canadian city usurped Paris, which had topped the list for the last four years, scoring higher than 124 other cities based on factors including affordability, quality of education and student experience. Paris moved to number two, followed by London, Seoul, Melbourne, Berlin, Tokyo, Boston, Munich and Vancouver.
In terms of countries as a whole, Canada is trending upward; four of the five Canadian cities included moved up in the rankings. "We have the lowest cost of living and highest qualify of life among G7 countries," said Alan Shepard, president of Concordia University. Six of the eight UK cities ranked also moved up in the wake of Brexit, especially Edinburgh (from 33rd place to 18th) and Manchester (from 36th to 23rd). But rankings for most U.S. cities moved down, due to poorer affordability scores.
