New Coding Tools Sell More Schools on iPads

(from MacRumors) Sales of Apple iPads to the education market jumped 32 percent over the previous year's fiscal quarter, to one million units, company CEO Tim Cook said during an earnings call last week. He attributed much of the sales surge to new tools that help users learn the hot skill of coding. "We believe coding is an essential skill that all students should learn," he said. He added that more than 1,000 K-12 schools nationwide plan to use the company's "Everyone Can Code" in their curricula this fall. Cook also announced an app-development program for older students. He described "App Development with Swift" as "an innovative full-year curriculum designed by Apple engineers and educators."
