(From The Hechinger Report) Innovation in education is crucial for improving student learning and narrowing equity gaps. Yet, a recent report by the National Center for Education Evaluation and Regional Assistance raises questions about the efficacy of these efforts. Only 26 percent of federally-funded innovation initiatives showed positive benefits for students. However, many initiatives lacked proper testing, leading to null results. Lessons learned include the need for larger sample sizes, careful implementation, and cautious national scale-ups to ensure effectiveness.
