(from WIVB) A bill under review by New York Governor Mario Cuomo would require the state's private schools to report all instances of sexual abuse to the police. The governor's signature would effectively close a loophole in a 2000 measure that required all public schools to report sexual abuse but did not explicitly call upon private schools to do the same. Mounting allegations in recent years of private schools quietly "handling" such problems internally have prompted legislators to push to close the loophole.
