Online Learning a Graduation Requirement?

Nov 9, 2017, 3:08 PM

(from Global Online Academy) High school students should be required to take an online course, according to Eric Hudson, director of teaching and learning at Global Online Academy. He argues that online learning is an important part of college and for career advancement; it exposes students to modern, relevant ways to communicate and build relationships; and it teaches students how to use technology for deep, sustained learning. Hudson recognizes that the decision to require such experience makes a statement about a school's core values. A requirement like this is not to be engaged in lightly; the types of online courses should be considered as should the notion of the type of learners a school wishes to develop.
