(From Gartner) Organizations with strong CFO-CIO relationships are 51% more likely to easily find funding for digital initiatives and 39% more likely to keep digital spending in line with the budget plan. However, a new survey by technology consulting firm Gartner shows that just 30% of CFOs and CIOs said they have a “collegial” and “business-centric” CFO-CIO partnership. The report outlined a number of steps that can enable digital success, including:

  • Adopt product-line funding models to increase comfort with digital spending.
  • Use an expanded set of metrics to reframe expectations for digital success.
  • Use a common performance management framework.
  • Prioritize involvement in IT's big-picture discussions.
  • Equip IT with tools that promote digital-cost-structure transparency.
