(from ICEF Monitor) A global survey of parents with at least one child 23 or younger finds growing interest in online learning. In the most recent Value of Education study from HSBC, 60 percent of nearly 8,500 parents in 15 countries said they would consider enrolling their child in a university program that is either completely or partially delivered online. Most cited cost savings for tuition, travel and living costs as the main attractions for this option. Three in 10 said they would consider an online degree if the costs were half as much that of a traditional, campus-based program.

Lifetime spending by these parents on their children's education averages just over $44,000 (U.S. dollars), including everything from uniforms to tuition and housing. Parents in Hong Kong spend the most, averaging $132,000 per child, compared to $43,000 in China.
