(from Harvard's Kennedy School) How to get parents to pay attention to your school's text alerts? By auto-enrolling them, whereby very few opt out, according to field research by educators at Harvard and Columbia. Moreover, where standard sign-up processes were found to generate no detectable increases in student performance, automatically enrolling parents was shown to meaningfully increase GPA and reduce student course failures.
