Educational consultant Ian Symmonds believes the offerings of many schools are too similar to those of their competitors, and that some would be better-served by viewing their "competitors" as peers whose complementary assets could strengthen their own. By eliminating some areas of redundancy and centralizing others, "I really believe the future is going to force schools to collaborate on cost containment, market share and collectively deciding which school is going to distinguish [itself] for specific and signature programs," he wrote.
