(from Inside Higher Education) Want to increase summer-program attendance from students who could use the extra academic help? Invite them with personalized emails and letters, and include relevant personal details such as the amount of aid money available to help them cover the classes. A studyat 10 Ohio community colleges found that students were more likely to enroll in summer courses — a factor that often helps close graduation requirements — when messages referred to them directly by name, mentioned helpful financial aid details, and included contact information and the name of an advisor. Another tip: Don't send the messages on Fridays or holidays.
