Phishing Leads IRS "Dirty Dozen" Tax Scams

Watch out for phishing and phone scams, along with identity theft, fake charities and more, this tax season. In its annual list of 12 "Dirty Dozen" tax scams, the federal taxation agency reminds independent school business offices to be mindful of the growing array of tactics criminals use to access personal information and money. At the top of the list is phishing, the term used for fraudulent emails that trick recipients into revealing personal data, such as bank account numbers and login information, by clicking on attachments or links.
