With the passage of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act in late 2017, transportation benefits became taxable for nonprofit entities. The U.S. House of Representatives is expected to pass a bill today (December 17, 2019) that repeals that tax in year-end funding legislation, according to Jeff Evans, associate director, public policy, at the American Society of Association Executives. The bill will then go to the Senate, and if it passes there on to the President for a signature. It is unknown how the bill will fare in the Senate and Executive branch.
