(from the Washington Post and the New York Times) Despite rising COVID-19 caseloads, schools are trying their hardest to keep their doors open until winter break and to reopen in-person in the new year. Among the toughest challenges are staffing shortages. Several schools already had to contend with large numbers of absent staff members because of the virus. Some schools and school districts are also sending home test kits home with students so they can test before returning to school in January. And some have already planned a week or two of virtual learning before resuming in-person classes.
