(From EdSource) Employees at all Los Angeles County public and private schools will be required to wear N95 or other medical-grade masks amid a surge of Covid cases in the region, the Los Angeles Times reported. “Cloth face coverings alone are no longer acceptable, as they do not provide the same level of source control or personal protection as a proper surgical mask or higher level PPE,” the order reads. The new rules also require students and staff to wear masks outdoors in crowded areas.
Similar policies are going into effect across the country: School officials in Amherst, Massachusetts are no longer allowing students to use cloth masks. The school district will be distributing medical-grade masks beginning next week.
