Six Practices to Boost Organizational Change

Sep 4, 2019, 1:59 PM

(From McKinsey & Company) Too many opinions can confuse and obscure the vision of an organizational redesign. According to a new survey by McKinsey & Company, an international management consulting firm, the majority (70%) of executives fail to reach overall objectives and improved performance by the end of a redesign. Consider simplifying the design and using a pragmatic approach — through implementation sprints — to boost the likelihood of success, suggests Patrick Simon, a partner at McKinsey. Here are six things companies must get right:

  1. Set a clear and ambitious target.
  2. Slim down the end-goal.
  3. Be clear about how initiatives will be sequenced and how they related to others.
  4. Conduct short design-test-apply cycles.
  5. Adapt and course-correct whenever needed.
  6. Stay focused and adapt the plan accordingly.
