States Consider Medical Marijuana on K-12 Campuses

(from K-12 Daily) Pending legislation in California would allow parents and guardians of students authorized to receive medical marijuana to provide non-smoking forms of the drug on school grounds and facilities. School boards, county boards and the governing body of charter schools would have the option of adopting the policies. The bill excludes all forms of medical marijuana that can be smoked or vaped, and requires that its administration not create a disruption or cause exposure to other students, among other restrictions.

If approved, California would join New Jersey and Colorado as states giving local officials the choice to allow medical marijuana use on K-12 campuses. Those states adopted these laws in 2015 and 2016, respectively.
