Stay Interviews May Prevent Employee Exits

(from the Society for Human Resource Management) Human resource professionals are finding that "stay" interviews, which are conducted with current employees to gauge their job satisfaction, are the perfect antidote to exit interviews. Some companies have found that stay interviews are helping reduce turnover while increasing production and satisfaction among workers. Employers build in questions about what is motivating employees and their career direction into regular one-on-one meetings. Exit interviews often do not yield useful information if employees do not want to burn bridges as they leave.
